What are information products? How will I create them? How will I sell them? Can it make me money? To some people, this will raised even more questions. What are information products? Why should I sell information products? How will I create them? Can it make me good money? How will I sell them? Calm down. I’m a very nice, caring and a generous person so I will answer all the questions raised. I’ve been doing that for years and I’m not about to stop. So here are the answers. What are information products? Information products are materials that teach others how to do something. Let’s assume you know how to make women have earth shattering orgasms, you can write it down step and step to sell. That is an information product. It could be in a form of printed manual, downloadable e-book, video, audio etc. Its up to you to decide on the method you want to adopt in delivering your product. Other Information products are how to register your business name with the corporate affairs commission without a lawyer and in less than 28 days. Why should I sell information products? The reason is that you can start today and set up your business by noon tomorrow. If you say you want to set up a “grand” Internet business like paypal, google etc, then you will have to wait for weeks or months before you can start because it will requite a lot of programming and time to get it right. Rather than wait for such a long time that can get you bored and discouraged, why don’t you start with something less tasking? Start making money right away. From there, you’ll get more experienced and more determined to go for bigger projects. *IMPORTANT NOTE* Let me say something very important at this juncture. You see, there are many ways to generate income on the Internet. - You can start promoting other peoples digital products on Clickbank for a commission - You can create content sites like blogs and forums a make money from displaying other people's ads - You can start a membership site and charge people to pay monthly fees to access it - You can decide to write books and sell on Amazon And so on and so forth. It doesn't have to be through information products alone. I am stressing this point because I've heard a lot of people accuse people of narrowing their mindsets by telling them to start with information products.
There are countless ways to do business online and I can't possibly teach you all of them. In fact, I can't possibly know all of them. I only want you to get started quickly, smoothly and profitably and from my experience, this is a great way. If you decide to follow another kind of model apart from selling information products. That's great with me. Whatever model you follow, make sure you follow the principles I have been teaching. You have to sell something. Something people really want to buy. *END OF NOTE* I like advising people to market to only Nigerians and that will get them started quickly. If they are planning to market to foreigners, they will have to worry about many other things like processing of cards etc. My philosophy is start with the simple ones. Don't make the mistake of thinking Nigerians don't buy stuffs online. There are millions of us online and that alone is as much as the population of some countries. How will I create them? It is Easy. Just pick up a pen and paper and write down what you know. If you’re very dull and you don’t know what to write, interview an expert and record it. Better still; organize a small, free seminar. Get an expert to speak. Record it. Your videos become your information product. Think of a topic people will WANT to learn. Not necessarily what they NEED to learn. Then move onward.
Can it make me good money? Certainly it can. I want you to think about this. If you have an information product priced at N2000 and you sell just 100 copies a month, you have just made Two hundred thousand Naira. I don’t know how much you earn currently but I know that making an extra Two hundred thousand Naira per month… Is Not Bad At All People have made money over and over with information products and they will continue to do so as long as they live. It’s a mega industry and you can cut your own slice starting right away. After creating the product, do the following. • Create a website for it. • Write a sales copy • Get traffic • Build a list Follow up on your list. I know this is where most people will start dozing off. Doing business online is beginning to look like hard work. Yes, it is hard work. It’s not for lazy lay about losers. If your information product is about how to get a job in Afghanistan, register a name like jobinafghanistan.com or something similar. Go to www.namecheap.com for your domain. It costs less than $10 a year. Then get a web host. Web hosting is the service that will help you put your website online in cyberspace. Try www.hostgator.com To Design your website. Download www.nvu.com for a simple software to use. Take Home Assignment Open a free 007names account and then register a domain name. Sign up at hostgator. Download nvu and begin to practice. If you don’t do these things, we have to come to the conclusion that you are not interested in doing business online or May be you are indeed… lazy lay about losers Write a Sales Copy Finally, so where did we stop? Sales letter right?
The next thing you need to do is to write a sales copy. A sales copy (you can call it a sales letter, a sales pitch or whatever) according to Renowned Information Marketer is a document whose contents are put together for one single reason…To Take Action. That action can be to pay money, to sign up for free information via email, to pick up your phone and reserve a seat for a seminar or whatever you require. Let me show you an example. Sell Almost Anything To Anybody on the Internet. Let me give you a quick tip about sales letter writing. The headline is the most important aspect. You need to get people to read what your website is about within 5 seconds. These days, people don’t have time to waste on one website.
There are facebook, youtube, twitter and the rest taking the attention of people away so you have to hook them right away. That is the job of the headline. Take a look at this website at www.woothatgirl.com/thank_you.htm and you will see a sales letter asking you to buy in action. You need to put that together for your own information product. If you can’t, you can hire a top copywriter to do it for you. I can recommend one or two for you. Don’t bother asking me to do it for you because I don’t have the time.
Get Traffic. You need to get traffic to your website. That is you need to attract people to come to your website. If people do not come to your website, your business is dead. If people do not come to your website, no one will read your sales letter and… No One Will Buy Your Products. So you need to go out there and promote using both free and paid techniques. You need to do some basic search engine optimization so google can send traffic to you. You need to buy google ads, you need to know how to get traffic from facebook, youtube, article directories, forums etc. Start learning these things. Without traffic, your website is doomed.
What’s next? Build A List… And Follow Up on Them. This is very very important. Have you been to a website where you are asked to put down your email address? I’m sure you have. There is a reason for it. They want to follow up on you. As a smart marketer, you don’t have to go out everytime to look for fresh traffic. You can always sell to your existing traffic. You can only do this if you “capture” their details. How will you do that? It is Simple.
Use an auto responder. Go to getresponse.com and sign up for a free version. Learn more about it. There are loads of tutorials on that website. So that is it. I have put together what you need to get started online. Once you get the basics right and you begin to make money, you can start experimenting with more complex projects. That is what most people do. They started with info products before moving on to other online business.
